Thursday June 9, 2016 marks the 8th World Accreditation Day, a global initiative established by the International Accreditation Forum (IAF) and the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) to raise awareness of accreditation-related activities and its importance. This year's theme is 'Accreditation: A global tool to support Public Policy.
Accreditation is an authoritative and impartial account that a conformity assessment body is performing its duties appropriately. Third-party accreditation is recognised around the world as the highest and most credible type of recognition a certification or inspection body can obtain. A joint website that has been developed by ISO, ILAC, IAF, IIOC, and IEC to provide awareness of the benefits of accreditation and how this helps support the public sector. World Accreditation Day will be celebrated across the world with the hosting of major national events, seminars, and press and media coverage, to communicate the value of accreditation to Government, Regulators and the leaders of the business community.
