Western Australian Network of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies (WANADA) Scheme

The scheme is based on SCSP:2011 Standard for Culturally Secure Practice (Alcohol and other Drug Sector), developed by the Western Australian Network of Alcohol and other Drug Agencies (WANADA); and STC:2012 Standard for Therapeutic Communities and Residential Rehabilitation Services, developed by the Australasian Therapeutic Communities Association (ATCA).

WANADA and ATCA receive support from the Australian Government Department of Health. WANADA supports services to improve the quality of life for individuals, families and communities affected by alcohol and other drugs, including community drug services, therapeutic communities and residential rehabilitation centres, sobering-up shelters, harm reduction services, and counselling services.

ATCA provides a range of services including detoxification units, family, gambling and mental health counselling, child care facilities, family support programs, exit housing and outreach services.

Applicant CABs will need to comply with WANADA Scheme (HS Scheme Part 5), Additional requirements for bodies certifying Alcohol and other Drug Agencies.

Applicants also need to comply with Human Services Scheme Part 1, Common requirements for bodies certifying Human Services as the WANADA Scheme calls up Part 1. See separate information page on Part 1.

As this is a product scheme, applicants also need to comply with ISO/IEC 17065:2012 – Conformity assessment - Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services.

  • Improves the quality of therapeutic community services in the areas of treatment, research, education and support.
