The Ship Recycling Management Systems (SRMS) scheme has been developed to support accredited certification against the requirements of ISO 30000:2009 - Ships and marine technology -- Ship recycling management systems -- Specifications for management systems for safe and environmentally sound ship recycling facilities. ISO 30000 applies to the entire ship recycling process from the acceptance of the ship by the ship recycling facility, through the recycling process to storage and processing of materials and wastes from the ship and related waste stream and recycling stream management.
The requirements for Certification Bodies is contained in another ISO standard : ISO 30003:2009 – Ships and marine technology – Ship recycling management systems – Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of ship recycling management. This document has been developed using ISO/IEC 17021:2006 as its basis.
