National Disability Advocacy Program Scheme

The scheme was developed by the Australian Government Department of Social Services (DSS) and JAS-ANZ and is based on the National Standards for Disability Services (NSDS), which superseded the Disability Advocacy Standards on 1 July 2015. The NSDS enable nationally consistent quality standards to apply for the disability services sector. They focus on person-centred approaches and promote choice and control by people with disability. National Disability Advocacy Agencies must achieve and maintain certification to the NSDS to receive funding from DSS.

Applicant CABs will need to comply with the NDAP scheme (HS Scheme Part 6), Additional requirements for bodies certifying advocacy agencies under the National Disability Advocacy Program. Applicants also need to comply with Human Services Scheme Part 1, Common requirements for bodies certifying Human Services as the NDAP Scheme calls up Part 1. See separate information page on the latter.

As this is a product scheme, applicants also need to comply with ISO/IEC 17065:2012 – Conformity assessment - Requirements for bodies certifying products, processes and services.
