Gluten-Free Certification Program Scheme

The Gluten-Free Certification Program Scheme (GFCP) is designed for manufacturers of gluten-free food, drug and pharmaceutical products that are intending to use the Gluten-free certification mark on product labelling, and meet the consumer requirements for ensuring rigorous standards that manage and eliminate gluten in products and ingredients.

The GFCP is based on the food safety management principles under Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) to assess the risks from all potential hazards, including gluten. A key differentiator of the GFCP from other gluten-free product claims is the use of qualified, trained and approved independent third-party auditors to assess the manufacturers compliance with requirements. This audit verifies the facility’s ability to consistently meet the stringent GFCP standard requirements for managing the production of gluten-free products.

The GFCP uses the Joint Accreditation System of Australia and New Zealand (JAS-ANZ) accredited conformity assessment bodies to monitor quality assurance systems at gluten-free processing and manufacturing facilities. JAS-ANZ accredited conformity assessment bodies  are engaged directly by the facility and the cost of each audit is met by the facility.
